Where can I edit subtitles?

What file format will my subtitles download in?

  • Once you have edited your auto-generated subtitles they become manual subtitles, these will then be available to download as an SRT file or a VTT file

  • If you translate your subtitles the downloaded file will be in VTT format

How do I get an SRT file for my translated subtitles?

  • If you need an SRT file for the translated subtitles, upload these into the subtitle editor and make any change (these will then become manual), save this and then you'll be able to download the subtitles in both VTT and SRT file format

How do I split the subtitles block?

  • If you click into the subtitles block bar and hover over the black bar you will see a tooltip which reads Split here

How do I play a specific subtitles block?

  • On the left hand panel where the text blocks live, click on the play button within the block you want to play

How can I edit at a more granular level?

  • If you click on the subtitle block bar (under the video player) you can use the space bar to play/pause the video

Troubleshooting

I can't see any subtitles attached to my edit

  • If you can't see any subtitles from an old edit create a new version of the edit (by opening a smart edit and pressing the finish button/re-upload an offline edit/export the edit again if using the Classic Editor) and they should generate

The timing is wrong on my subtitles

  • You can manually change the timestamp on the subtitles block on the left hand side
